This new exhibition focuses on Toronto in Ontario, Canada, and particularly Virtue Street.

  • Erin Riley, a Canadian photographer, tries to reveal the real nature of the place because “on the map of Toronto, Virtue Street is a straight line but in life, nothing is linear…”

It is my intense curiosity about people and the world in which we live that compels me to pick up the camera – a machine embedded with the promise of truth and revelation.  I began my photographic career working as a photojournalist for various national newspapers and magazines, and have recently turned my attention toward developing an active artistic practice. I was one of five artists to make a trip to the high arctic with the Canadian Military as part of the Canadian Forces Artists Program. Also, I was asked to produce new work for the outdoor exhibition Beyond Imaginings at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre. With each new body of work, I continue to explore my interests in photojournalism within the context of contemporary documentary practice and theory.
