Category: Serious
to Advanced Amateur
The Canon EOS 7D is a new series that sits between the 50D and the 5D Mark II. It features 18MP resolution using an APS-C size (22.3 x 14.9mm) CMOS sensor with an ISO range of 100-6400 (expandable to ISO 12,800), and claims that its enhanced, low-noise high-sensitivity optimization makes shooting in situations previously possible only with flash as simple as point and shoot.
Unheard of in a camera in this category, the EOS 7D features a blazing continuous shooting of 8fps, allowing capture of up to 126 Large/JPEGs with a UDMA CF card and 15 RAW. This makes the EOS 7D a perfect action shooting digital SLR camera.
The EOS 7D also features Full HD video capture at 1920 x 1080 resolution at 30p (29.97), 24p (23.976) or 25p frames per second, for up to 4GB per clip. The photographer can, of course, take full advantage of interchangeable lenses available for the EOS 7D. A dedicated Live View/Movie Recording lever with a start/stop button make sit convenient to start capturing video fast.
The extra large 3.0-in. LCD has 920,000 dots resolution offers 100% frame coverage at 1.0x magnification. A newly-designed transparent LCD display enables a number of viewfinder displays to be overlaid, adjusted and hidden at the touch of a button. Display options include: grid, spot metering, AF points display, hide all, zone AF, spot (single-point) AF, AF point expansion and Dual Axis Electronic Level display. The new Dual Axis Electronic Level aids in achieving perfectly level shots, displaying both roll and pitch in 1° increments, either in the viewfinder or on the LCD.
The most advanced feature is the faster, more accurate AF with 19 AF sensors, which are all high-precision cross-type sensors, any of which can be selected automatically or manually. A new Intelligent Macro focusing tracks the object or the camera's movement when shooting close-up, to ensure focus is never lost.
A new iFCL Metering has 63-zone dual-layer metering system that uses both focus and color information to provide accurate exposure even in difficult lighting.
The EOS 7D chassis is built of lightweight and rigid magnesium, and the camera's seals are built to resist water and dust.
The Canon EOS 7D digital SLR camera should easily become the new favorite of serious photographers by providing
advanced pro features,
fast, responsive controls, and exceptional image
quality in a compact, lightweight
and rugged body. It is compatible with over 60 EF and EF-S lenses as well as with EOS System accessories.
