McAfee today has announced the release of McAfee All Access 2013, an enhanced cross-device security product for PCs, Macs, and Android-based phones and tablets. It provides users with a comprehensive means of protection against a rapidly evolving threat landscape, and gives them the ability to monitor and manage system security for all of their devices from one central location.
Earlier this morning, McAfee Labs released McAfee Threats Report: Third Quarter 2012. Findings showed that mobile malware almost doubled the previous quarter’s total, ransomware has grown by 43 per cent, and Web threats have increased by 20 per cent. Cybercrime is showing no signs of slowing down and is in fact getting increasingly sophisticated and dangerous.
As consumers begin thinking about their holiday shopping, many of them will fire up their devices to go online, order gifts, plan travel, and catch up with friends and family. And in tandem with this uptick in online and mobile shopping is the number of online scams and malware designed to steal personal information. It cannot be stressed enough that all consumers need to be diligent about protecting their Internet-connected devices and personal data, especially as the threat landscape continues to evolve.

NEWS RELEASE
McAfee All Access 2013 Enhances Cross-Device Protection for Consumers
New easy management and advanced protection capabilities help address continued surge in threats across multiple devices and platforms
MARKHAM, Ontario, November 14, 2012 – McAfee today announced significant enhancements to McAfee All Access, the industry’s premier integrated cross-device security product for PCs, Macs, smartphones and tablets. McAfee All Access 2013’s new, consolidated dashboard enables consumers to quickly and easily monitor how devices are protected, invite family members to install protection on their devices, and instantly access free premium technical support. With one central location to install and manage mobile, data and system security as well as family protection, McAfee All Access safeguards all facets of users’ digital lives and enables them to enjoy a safe online experience regardless of device or location.
According to the McAfee Threats Report: Third Quarter 2012, the company found that the number of threats across all platforms and devices continues to rise. Traditional Web threats, like suspicious URLs, are growing and saw a 20 per cent quarter-over-quarter increase, mobile malware nearly doubled, and Mac malware shows strong, continued growth.
McAfee warned that both Trojans designed to steal passwords and Autorun malware, which spreads through flash drives, memory cards and other external devices, are increasing. McAfee All Access’s broad and deep security portfolio delivers the most comprehensive means of protection against the rapidly evolving threat landscape.
“As cybercriminals continue to penetrate through new and multiple attack vectors, consumer reliance on Internet-connected devices and the data stored on them has also skyrocketed,” said Brenda Moretto, Canadian Consumer Sales Manager at McAfee Canada. “Cross-device protection has gone from being a nice-to-have to an absolute essential. McAfee All Access enables consumers to get the optimal protection they need with an even greater level of ease and simplicity.”
McAfee All Access also includes new McAfee SiteAdvisor Social software that colour-codes risks that appear within social networking sites for guidance and safety access. Downloaded more than 55 million times a year, McAfee SiteAdvisor adds safety ratings to browser and search engine results to help protect consumers from the Internet’s more than 43 million suspicious URLs1. McAfee All Access’s new vulnerability scanner proactively detects weaknesses in the operating system and in installed apps, and a redesigned user interface supports new touch-friendly devices with easier layout and faster navigation. Users can also take advantage of mobile privacy enhancements including a call and SMS filter, as well as an app privacy alert feature.
Also announced today is McAfee’s portfolio of consumer PC security suites including McAfee Total Protection 2013, McAfee Internet Security 2013 and McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2013, all of which feature a redesigned powerful malware detection framework with proactive detection and cleaning capabilities. An enhanced McAfee NetGuard feature also offers contextually aware anti-bot protection monitors where applications want to connect and informs the user of suspicious activity. McAfee’s consumer products are all compatible with and offer complete protection for Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system.
