Samsung “Care for Nepal” Project Provided Relief Materials & Communication Services to the Victims of the Earthquake

In response to Nepal’s devastating earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale on April 25, 2015, Samsung initiated the “Care for Nepal” in the following ways:

  • The first was to support the affected people by supplying relief materials.
  • The second was to help the victims of the earthquake by setting up communication and convenience centers that utilized Samsung products on the sites of destruction in Nepal. Stationary facilities offered communication services to residents of Tudikhel, Bhaktapur, and Kirtipu. Also, mobile communication centers in vans were used to provide assistance to inland areas where few aid workers had been able to previously reach.

These camps and mobile vans ran at full capacity on a daily basis and touched thousands of lives. Currently, there have been over 10,000 calls made, more than 7,200 phones have been charged and hot meals and cold water have been provided to over 4,500 people at these facilities.
