When to use a Circular Polarizing Filter

Polarizing Filters for Photo and Video from Olivia Speranza on Vimeo.

Filters! Why do professional photographers seem to use them so much and so often? Besides protecting the front element of our lenses from scratch and damage, there are two types of filters that pro photographers use often to get the image they are after: ND filter and polarizing filter.

In this video, Olivia Speranza explains how a circular polarizing filter works and how to use it effectively to bring your images to the next level.

On the example of the garden pond, I did like the reflection in the water but the polarizing filter took that out. Maybe, a graduated ND filter may also be a good idea here?
