PRESS RELEASE

PMA Set to Unlock the Potential of the Digital Imaging World

PMA and photo industry luminaries and innovators from Amazon and leading Silicon Valley companies will use InnovationNow to open up the world of imaging

(McLean, Va., September 9, 2015) – Photo Marketing Association International (PMA) will reveal plans for an imaging interoperation initiative that promises to unlock the full potential of digital imaging worldwide at

2015 InnovationNow Photo Business & Technology Summit, to be held on September 27-28 in San Francisco. Representatives from Amazon and other high profile speakers from some of the Valley’s leading companies will join a host of industry influencers at InnovationNow and expand on the themes of connectivity and interoperability.

Some of the most influential names in imaging will come together at 2015 InnovationNow, including:

Digital technology guru Scott Brownstein will open InnovationNow with a keynote that outlines the “Opportunities and Challenges on the Path to Renewed Industry Relevance.” With a forecasted 2 trillion photos to be taken and shared by the close of 2015, the modern connected consumer is suffering from imaging overload. Scott will explain how the industry must adapt and leverage rather than resist the continual stream of disruptive imaging technology upheavals ahead.

Connectivity and interoperability are recurring themes at InnovationNow as the industry grapples with a rapidly evolving landscape. Ultimately, the photo industry exists to serve end users; however, in the ultra-fragmented world of digital imaging, consumers find themselves bewildered and frustrated by the alarming development of digital overload. More photos and videos than ever before are being taken, stored and shared, but consumers and businesses are unable to tap into the full potential of digital imaging due to a lack of interoperability. At 2015 InnovationNow, PMA and industry giants will reveal and discuss an initiative to open up a multitude of opportunities and free the digital imaging world from its interoperability shackles.

“As consumers, we’re surrounded by devices we can use to capture fantastic images and help record moments and memories. From smartphones and tablets to digital SLRs and compact cameras, we’re each collecting thousands of photos, but all saved in different formats and in different places,” says Georgia McCabe, CEO, PMA. “As an imaging industry, we have somehow lost sight of what happens next and how people want to store, share and show these images, arriving at a point today where we are in danger of having a imaging culture of ‘point, click, capture and forget.’ However, at PMA we understand the value and importance of imaging and the need to get everyone working together to address this industry-level challenge. InnovationNow 2015 is bringing together the best, brightest and biggest in the imaging industry so that collectively we can put the photographer and their images back at the heart of digital imaging.”
