QUICKFACT SHEET

With the OM-D E-M10 Mark III, Olympus aims to make stepping up from your smartphone camera to an interchangeable lens system as easy and painless as possible. Olympus claims that, in the E-M10 Mark III, it has redesigned the touch screen user interface and the auto shooting modes to deliver “fail-proof AUTO shooting.”

The AUTO mode now takes both camera shake and subject movement into consideration when deciding on an appropriate shutter speed fast enough to eliminate blur.

The new Advanced Photo mode puts powerful and creative functions at your fingertips. It provides quick and easy access to some of the popular photography techniques that you previously had to frustratingly dig into the Menu to locate, such as nighttime Live Composite and Multiple Exposure. You will also be able to easily access Live Time, Silent Shooting, Focus Bracketing, AE Bracketing, Panorama, HDR, and Keystone Compensation.

Also new (and contributing to this new ease of use) is a Shortcut button that allows you to directly jump into the relevant settings for each shooting mode: In SCN/ART/AP/Movie mode, pressing the Shortcut button brings up a selection screen and you just have to double-tap the screen to make a selection; in AUTO mode, the Shortcut button brings up a Live Guide; and, in PASM modes, the Shortcut button activates the Super Control Panel.

With all these user-friendly changes, Olympus is hoping that the smart phone snapshooter who is looking to expand their photography will find the E-M10 Mark III to be as intuitive to operate as their smart phone camera so that they can easily take their photography to the next level without the growing pains that are usually associated with moving to a powerful interchangeable lens camera.

  2. A timeless body design. Easy to use anywhere
  3. Intuitive operation (with redeveloped auto shooting modes)
  4. High-speed performance to capture any subject
  5. Built-in Wi-Fi for easy connecting and sharing

High quality, blur-free imagery in any scene
Built-in 5-axis image stabilization is available for still photography and 3-axis image stabilization for 4K/30p video shooting.

Since it’s possible to extract a still picture from a 4K video, it makes capturing the right moment easier.

A timeless body design. Easy to use anywhere
The E-M10 III is compact, lightweight and therefore easier to carry anywhere.

Intuitive operation (with redeveloped auto shooting modes)
The front/rear grip has been redesigned to be bigger for easier holding. The diameter of the dials has also increased to make reading the settings easier. The Arrow pad now features descriptions of what functions are accessed with what arrow.

The Front and Back control dials, customizable Fn1/2 buttons and the Arrow Pad make operating the E-M10 III intuitive.

The LCD tilts up and down and is touch screen and you can just point and swipe to select options and to browse images. It stays on at all times during video recording.

The Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) is large and clear with 100% coverage.

The built-in flash turns on as soon as you flip it up.

Fail-proof Auto Shooting
The E-M10 III features PASM shooting modes, plus Full AUTO, Scene, ART Filter and a brand-new Advanced Photo mode.

The AUTO mode now takes both camera shake and subject movement into consideration when deciding on an appropriate shutter speed.

New is the Advanced Photo (AP) mode or what Olympus bills as the “”Fail-proof Auto Shooting” mode. What this mode does is to provide easy access to some of the advanced photo modes that you had to dig into the Menu to locate, such as Live Composite and Multiple Exposure. You will also be able to easily access Live Time, Silent Shooting, Focus Bracketing, AE Bracketing, Panorama, HDR, and Keystone Compensation.

Also new is a Shortcut button that allows you to directly jump into the relevant settings for each shooting mode. For example, in SCN/ART/AP/Movie mode, pressing the Shortcut button brings up a selection screen and you just have to double-tap to make a selection; in AUTO mode, the Shortcut button brings up a Live Guide; and in PASM modes, the Shortcut button activates the Super Control Panel.

A new ART Filter has been added: Bleach Bypass was a technique used during film processing that bypassed the bleaching process and resulted in a high contrast, low saturation look. This gives an old film nostalgic feel and gives metals a cool, silver, glossy feel.

High-speed performance to capture any subject
The E-M10 III features 121 AF point (just like on the flagship E-M1 III, and up from 81 points on the E-M10 II), Touch AF shutter, Continuous AF, 8.5 fps High Speed sequential shooting, and Face Priority & Eye Detection.

In addition, you can skip 10 frames at a time during Playback using the Up and Down arrow keys.

Built-in Wi-Fi for easy connecting and sharing
Built-in Wi-Fi and the use of the Olympus Image SHARE (OI.SHARE) app, you can import photos to your smart phone and share them to social sites; remotely control your camera using your smart phone or tablet; add GPS tags to photos on your camera; edit and enhance photos on your smart phone.
