Adaptiv Camouflage Uses Cameras And Matrix To Fool IR Sensors

From defenseupdate

BAE Systems has developed an ‘invisibility cloak’ that turns a CV90 light tank invisible, by blending it into its surroundings. Moreover, the ADAPTIV technology can display different images to disguise the tank as a natural object, a smaller vehicle or even a different vehicle (like a car). The system can also be used on ships and fixed installations, allowing them to stay undetected by enemy surveillance units. In the video, we see a tank camouflaged as a car and a moving truck having its letterings changed.

What’s really amazing is that ADAPTIV uses lightweight hexagonal hand-sized pixels made of metal so that they can sustain physical impact and provide defence against enemy ordnance. The pixels can be easily and rapidly removed and replaced if damaged. The pixels are individually heated and cooled so that the object can blend with its surrounding, thus disappearing from infrared sensors.
