Amazon Kindle Is Now International, but not in Canada

After receiving an email announcing that Kindle is now “International,” we eagerly posted the announcement on Photoxels (see below). This morning, I decided to check what photography books can be downloaded for the international version of Kindle — and imagine my utter amazement to find that Canada is not considered part of “international.” Kindle remains very much a U.S. product.

So for those who got excited, sorry for the post: Kindle is still not available in Canada. If you are in the US and spend substantial time abroad, check out if your destinations are among the 100 or so “international” sites from where you can download Kindle titles. (The funny thing is all countries are listed in the drop down, so you’ll have to go one by one to figure that out.) Only then can you make an informed decision whether to stick with the U.S. version or the “not-so-International” version.
