This sign is posted at the entrance of the London Transport Museum. Somebody decided that since digital SLRs “are classed as professional equipment,” they can’t be used inside the London Transport Museum. Note that there is no ban on taking photos — only on using “big” DSLRs and tripods which could “risk the safety of the majority of people for a minority.”
So is the ban due to the high-quality/high resolution of DSLRs or for safety reason? I can understand the fear of high quality reproduction of the displayed items, but how is a DSLR unsafe for the majority of people? Probably they mean they don’t want photographers to set up tripods, light umbrellas, cables strewn along the floor, etc. that could impede foot traffic and potentially cause someone to stumble and get hurt. Either case, this is an asinine decision that should be immediately and forthwith remediated.
So, y’all just bring your non-professional looking compact mirrorless now and you’ll be fine. Tsk tsk.
