EOS 5DS and 5DS R on sale date revealed!
Canon has announced that its EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R high-resolution DSLRs will be officially on sale throughout Europe from 15 June 2015…
Launched in February to international acclaim, the two new high-resolution cameras are among Canon’s most eagerly awaited imaging products ever and offer medium format levels of resolution with all the advantages of EOS size, handling and performance.
Available from all Canon authorised pro dealers, the two 50.6 Megapixel bodies are designed for ultimate image quality both on location and in the studio.
The EOS 5DS is designed to offer editorial, fashion and architectural photographers the ultimate in image size and quality while minimising post-production thanks to the 50.6 Megapixel sensor with an optical low-pass filter.
The EOS 5DS R is the same as EOS 5DS, bar one important difference in that it incorporates a low-pass cancellation filter to offer the maximum level of sharpness from Canon’s revolutionary new sensor.
Landscape, studio and advertising photographers in particular will appreciate the extra level of detail offered by the EOS 5DS R, while all photographers will relish the ability to produce stunningly detailed 8688 x 5792 images from both cameras, with A0 prints readily achievable at 200dpi.
The EOS 5D-series family
Commenting on the success of the EOS 5D-series, Kieran Magee, Professional Imaging Marketing Director, Canon Europe, told CPN: “We are delighted to know how well these new high-resolution 5D-series cameras have been received. The EOS 5D-series now offers a camera for every type of imaging professional. From photojournalists and filmmakers looking for a well-proven and extremely robust full-frame imaging tool in the EOS 5D Mark III to landscape, architectural and fashion photographers who demand nothing but the finest detail in their images thanks to the EOS 5DS and 5DS R’s 50.6 Megapixels, the EOS 5D family is now truly complete.”
The EOS 5D Mark III, 5DS and 5DS R are built from a combination of durable materials – a steel base plate to which the magnesium alloy body shell is attached.
A decade of digital excellence
With 2015 being the ten-year anniversary of the EOS 5D-series, the two new models are set to be an instant sales success with order books already full for the first shipments.
