QUICKFACT SHEET

The Canon EOS R7 is Canon’s most advanced APS-C mirrorless camera. It is an advanced-level camera targeted to the enthusiast photographer and videographer.

If you have desired an EOS R6, but couldn’t afford the price, the EOS R7 (May 24, 2022; US $1,499 body only) comes closest to the 20MP EOS R6 (Jul 9, 2020; US $2,099 body only) in features, except it uses an APS-C image sensor instead of full-frame. The EOS R7 has a fast and accurate AF, excellent video with uncropped 4K/30P, a 2.36M-dot 0.72x magnification OLED EVF, 5-axis 7 stops IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization), 30fps continuous shooting, two UHS-II SD card slots, and an AF joystick.

The Canon EOS R7 (US $1,499) is perfect for content creators who do both still and video shooting and looking for a full-featured but budget-friendly mirrorless camera.

Though the EOS R7 accepts the full range of Canon RF lenses, note that it uses the same RF mount as Canon’s full-frame mirrorless cameras, and since there aren’t many Canon lenses made specifically for APS-C, you end up having to pay premium prices for the larger and heavier full-frame lenses (with a crop factor). We recommend that you purchase it together with one of the more affordable kit lenses: either the Canon RF-S18-45mm (29-72mm equiv.) F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens (US $299.99, lens; US $2,099, R7 + lens Content Creator Kit) or the Canon RF-S18-150mm (29-240mm equiv.) F3.5-6.3 IS STM lens (US $499.99, lens; US $1,899.00, R7 + lens).

If you need a still more affordable APS-C mirrorless camera, check out the Canon EOS R10 (US $879.99). If you want a full-frame sensor, check out the 20MP Canon EOS R6 (US $2,099) or the similarly-priced 24.2MP Canon EOS R8 (US $1,499).
