DPReview has posted their review of the Canon PowerShot G11 [Specs], with 10MP resolution (1/1.7-in. CCD), 5x wide-angle optical zoom (28-140mm equiv.), optical image stabilization, 2.8-in. Vari-angle LCD (461K dots), PASM modes, RAW, HDMI output, Smart AUTO, and Movie 640×480 @ 30fps.

I have bought G11 recently, i very happy on my decision, as learner it has all the feature of SLR , its is compact, picture quality is excellent, i think all the learner should start with G11.
Agreed. If only beginner photographers would take their time and not think they have to jump to a DSLR right away. First, build the basics, understand exposure, composition, colors,… with a capable compact digital camera like the Canon G11. Then, and only then, decide if a DSLR (with the added size, weight and complexity) is in your future.
