The Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 6 games, beating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime with a goal by Patrick Kane.
It appeared that the “come-back kids” Flyers were going to steal the momentum when Scott Hartnell scored the game-tying goal with 3:59 to play in regulation, and forcing an overtime.
Patrick Kane shot from the lower left circle and the puck went so fast under Michael Leighton and lodged itself under the inside of the right post out of sight. There was a moment of confusion as players on both teams wondered where the puck had gone. The play was reviewed briefly and the replay clearly showed it was a goal.
Blackhawks’ captain Jonathan Toews was named the winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy (the Playoffs’ most valuable player).
Oh, and Marian Hossa won his cup at last.
Both teams played beautiful hockey.
