PRESS RELEASE
Panasonic Announces Winners of the AU-EVA1 “Share Your Vision” Film Contest
September 14, 2018
NEWARK, NJ (September 14, 2018) – At IBC 2018, Panasonic announced today the winners of its EVA1 “Share Your Vision” Film Contest, which showcases short films shot on the AU-EVA1. The award for Best Fiction Film went to Ocean, which showcases poetic images shot by European filmmaker Anders Øvergaard about a woman exploring her past. The award for Best Nonfiction Film went to Sage, a powerful mini-doc by U.S. filmmaker Gabe Dinsmoor that profiles activists trying to stop street violence in Baltimore, Maryland.
The distinguished panel of judges included cinematographers Johnny Derango, Elle Schneider, and Matthias Bolliger, who selected two winners, one in fiction and one in nonfiction. Judging was based on the following criteria: technical qualities; artistic qualities of the cinematography; and artistic qualities of the overall work. The two winners will be awarded $6,000 (€5000).
“Overall, the short films were very strong and showed the EVA1 in a great light,” said judge/DP Johnny Derango, one of the first DPs to shoot with the EVA1. “To see how far the EVA1 has come since shooting my demo film, Radio 88, is truly astounding.”
