This is an update to the previous blog, 2014 Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival May 1–31, 2014 in Toronto.
Portfolio Reviews Exhibition Award
Curators and directors, publishers and photo editors are brought together during CONTACT in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to review portfolios of established and emerging artists, with a focus on documentary, photojournalism or photo-based art practices.
- This is an important event for artists with projects at advances stages of development who are seeking opportunities for publishing and exhibiting nationally or internationally—as well as looking for guidance on conceptual approaches or career development advice.
- The portfolio reviews are for anyone who is serious about photography.
- It is not a requirement to be a professional who earns income from their practice, or to have studied visual art.
- *Please note that due to limited space, all submissions will go through a selection process to ensure a high caliber of work is presented in this program.
One artist will be awarded with a solo exhibition presented at the CONTACT Gallery in January 2015.
- Chosen by a jury of international professionals in the field of photography, this award recognizes outstanding work presented at the Portfolio Reviews.
- The program was created to support and advance the careers of talented emerging photographers.
The award also includes:
- An exhibition artist fee of $2185.
- $1000 gift certificate from the Festival’s official retail partner Vistek.
- $2500 gift certificate from Toronto Image Works to assist with production.

- Portfolio Night & Cocktail Reception is an opportunity for participants to mingle and share their portfolios with reviewers, and peers in an informal open forum.
- Please note all participants wishing to be considered for the Portfolio Reviews Exhibition Award must attend to ensure the jury has seen your work.
