Curiosity’s Space Cameras

Malin Space Science Systems designs, builds, and operates space camera systems for government and commercial aerospace customers. Pictured are the Mastcam 34 mm (left) and Mastcam 100 mm (right). They are the main cameras that will obtain color, multispectral color, stereo, and high definition video views of the terrain explored by Curiosity.

Pictured above is the The Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Mars Descent Imager (MARDI) that sent back the natural color images (at a rate of 4fps) during Curiosity’s descent to the martian surface.
