UPDATE 2013-07-25: Do NOT apply this update since Fujifilm has found it to be faulty.
After telling us about it for weeks, Fujifilm has finally posted the firmware updates that add the immensely useful “Focus Peaking” feature to the X-Pro1 and X-E1.
In addition to Focus Peaking, there are improvements to AF speed and accuracy, and also a new “APERTURE SETTING” shooting mode to be able to set aperture on the XF27mmF2.8 and XC lenses (which do not feature an aperture ring). Note that you may also have to apply firmware updates to the lenses you attach to your X-series camera. Five XF lenses are listed: XF14mm F2.8 R, XF18mm F2 R, XF18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS, XF35mm F1.4 R and XF60mm F2.4 R Macro.
Note: Though the “APERTURE SETTING” will appear in the Shooting Menu [MENU – SHOOTING MENU 5 – APERTURE SETTING], it will not be selectable unless the XF27mm F2.8 lens or an XC lens is attached to the camera.
There are also firmware updates for the FinePix XP200, F900EXR and S8400W.
