The Fujifilm X-Pro1 is a rangefinder-styled digital camera that professional photographers are increasingly viewing as a DSLR replacement.
Shooting with the X-Pro1 is a rewarding experience. If you have never shot using a Shutter Speed Dial and Aperture Ring before, it may take some getting used to. However, once you realize the degree of control at your fingertips, you will never want to go back to “push a button, dial a setting” controls again. There are no scene modes, but PASM modes provide all the control you need as a serious photographer.
What excites the most demanding photographers is the superb and detailed images it captures in good light and its excellent low light performance with low noise at high ISOs. In fact, image quality is excellent at ISO 200 and very good up to ISO 1600, with noise starting to be faintly visible at ISO 1600 and ISO 6400 still very usable. It’s not the fastest camera as far as operational performance is concerned, and AF in low light needs improvement, but unless you’re into sports photography, the X-Pro1 is fast enough for most other types of photography that you won’t notice or be bothered too much.
The Fujifilm X-Pro1 is a finely crafted mirrorless camera with excellent build and ergonomics and it is encroaching into the traditional mirrorred DSLR territory. It’s an excellent alternative to a big, heavy and cumbersome DSLR, with image quality that rivals and even bests some of the enthusiast and top-end DSLRs. Highly recommended!
