SIGMA’S TIPA AWARD-WINNING 18-200MM F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM LENS OFFERS EVEN GREATER PERFORMANCE

TORONTO, ON., May 22, 2012 Gentec International is pleased to announce the new Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM zoom lens, named the year’s Best Entry Level DSLR Lens at the prestigious European Photo & Imaging Awards of the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA). Each year, TIPA editors review new imaging products and judge them on quality, performance, and value. Only the best products in each category make it through the rigorous screening process, which makes it particularly significant that Sigma’s new 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM lens has been recognized by this organization with a coveted TIPA award.

The 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM is the successor to the popular 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM lens, which was launched in June 2007. Compared to the previous version, the new lens is smaller and lighter with a reduced filter size of 62mm and rounded diaphragm blades for an improved background blur. It also incorporates an “F” Low Dispersion (FLD) glass element, which offers performance equal to fluorite glass, and two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements that ensure excellent correction of colour aberration.

Like its predecessor, the new lens incorporates aspherical lens elements to provide excellent correction for all types of aberration and distortion. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, ensuring high quality images throughout the entire zoom range. Sigma’s Optical Stabilizer (OS) system offers effective correction of up to 4 stops, enabling easy handheld photography at slower shutter speeds. The Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensures quiet, high-speed auto focus, while the inner focus system eliminates front lens rotation, allowing the use of circular polarizing filters and the supplied petal-type lens hood.

The suggested retail price of the Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM is $569.95.
