Google Is Now Instant

Google has released its new search engine (it’s already LIVE as we type this) called “Instant.” It’s “real-time search as you type” with predictive technology. Even before you have finished typing your search phrase, Google Instant is predicting what you want to search for and returning the results without the need for you to even hit the return key.

Type “w” and weather sites list.

Type “j” and jetblue lists as the top result.

Type “a” and amazon lists as the top result.

Which prompts the question: is Google Instant’s predictive technology really predictive based on what most users are searching for when they type “j” or “a” — or will companies be lining up and auctioning with the highest price to “buy a vowel?”

It begs the question: are people really looking for ever faster search? The reaction in the room and from online questions are probably not what the Google guys quite expected. It was not standing room ovation. I suspect Google engineers may be going on a tangent here focusing on speed [Anybody complained about speed? Solving a problem that does not exist?] when it’s the search results that still bug people.

I can see some people panicking as the search results display even before they have finished typing, especially if the wrong [and potentially offensive] results list along the way. If this real-time search bothers you, you can always click the Instant option OFF.

So this is great job, guys and you deserve an applause!………………………….

Now, we’re still not happy about the whole SEO algorithm used. Too many garbage sites still display on first page. So, can we now go back and work on this?
