A digital version of the Holga camera? Why not, asks industrial designer Saikat Biswas. His concept Holga D “retains the qualities and simplicity of the original Holga camera and brings back the joy and delayed gratification associated with good old analog photography.”
Of necessity, the Holga D features a simple meniscus plastic lens to create the vignetting, blur, light leaks, and other ‘qualities’ that are unacceptable in mainstream photography but that have obtained a major cult following among film Holga photographers.
On the top panel is a shutter release button (orange key) and an E-Ink display. Surrounding these there are two ring-dials for ISO and shutter speed control. There is a power-key on next to the shutter speed dial. Interestingly, the entire top panel can be removed and reversed for left hand use!
The Holga D also features a full-frame image sensor, accepts the SD memory card and a wide range of accessories such as flash, viewfinder and aperture discs. No mention if there would be a built-in sensor-shift image stabilizer ;). Well done, Saikat!
