How Tough Are Today’s DSLRs?

How tough are today’s DSLRs? Can they take everyday life abuse? And more? DigitalRev puts the Canon EOS 400D and Nikon D70 to a tongue-in-cheek “destruction test.” I know the video title advertises the Canon EOS 550D and Nikon D90, but… aww, just watch the video, it’s all explained in there.

The first “destruction test” is bumping the lenses against concrete blocks. [Not really a camera test per se.] Followed by jabbing a butter knife against the camera body. [A butter knife will not even prick you.] Then rubbed by a piece of lettuce. [???]

The second test is dropping the cameras while they are in a well padded camera bag.

The third is splashing them with a cup of hot tea. The fourth is a bump by an elevator door. The fifth is walking on them. The sixth… you get the idea.

And it goes on for 00:16:53 so you’ve been given fair warning.

From DigitalRevCom

We’d like to say that no real cameras were hurt in the making of this video and they all fared pretty well until “the PC crashed.” Tsk, tsk.
