Allendale, NJ (November 8, 2012) – Leica Camera, the legendary German camera and sport optics brand, announces programming for 2012’s FotoWeekDC Photography Festival. The Leica Store Washington DC, located at 977 F Street, NW, in the heart of downtown Washington, DC’s Penn Quarter, will play host to numerous programs designed to excite and inspire photographers of all levels during the festival, which takes place throughout the nation’s capital from November 9 – 18. The gallery space of the Leica Store Washington DC debuts a new exhibition by Renowned Photojournalist Craig Semetko, featuring work from his book ‘UNPOSED.’ To celebrate the opening, two special lectures are taking place on Thursday, November 15 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM and 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM. During these programs, Semetko offers insight into his unique and often humorous, view of everyday situations found in ‘UNPOSED’ in addition to a discussion on his current project through Kickstarter, ‘America: E Pluribus Unum (Out of Many, One).’ From 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, an evening reception honors the exhibition opening. All are welcome and no RSVP is required for the evening event.

Additional noted photographers offer glimpses at their iconic photographs and also provide the opportunity to hear the stories behind the images during lectures held throughout the festival. On Sunday, November 11, Local Photojournalist and Documentary Photographer Gediyon Kifle presents “Making a Moment Decisive.” The two-hour lecture occurs at 12:00 PM and again at 3:00 PM and focuses on Kifle’s capture of compelling images of human rights issues and social action. Join Fine Art Photographer, Author and Photography Instructor Terri Weifenbach for the lecture “Photographs and the Printed Book” on Monday, November 12 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Weifenbach’s presentation provides insightful thoughts about her work, which is represented in permanent collections of Sir Elton Photography Collection, Museum Ludwig, Koln Germany and Hermès, as well as a discussion on her personal photographic process and concepts from her extensive book repertoire.
