Leica Announces S-Studio Programming at Milk Studios NYC

LEICA CAMERA INC. ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE S-STUDIO PROGRAMMING AT MILK STUDIOS NYC

Experience newly introduced Leica Camera products with Live Shoots, Leica Akademie Lectures and more October 25th – 26th

Allendale, NJ (October 12, 2012) – Leica Camera, the legendary German camera manufacturer, invites existing and future Leica users to explore inspiration and creativity at its essence with the Leica S-Studio experience. Taking place Thursday, October 25th and Friday, October 26th, the Leica S-Studio features the newly launched Leica S, a revolutionary tool that sets new standards for medium format photography. The event marks the first time the complete new Leica S-System, including products launched at last month’s photokina Trade Show in Cologne, Germany, will be showcased in the United States. All programming takes place at Milk Studios in New York City (450 West 15th Street, New York, NY, 10011), the city’s premiere photo studio that stands at the crossroads of fashion, photography, art and media.

“We want to enable Professional and Assistant Photographers as well as Digital Techs to experience the power of the S-System first hand during this event,” said Roland Wolff, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Retail at Leica Camera Inc. “With the Leica S taking center stage, we look forward to providing visitors with an experience that can only happen when a Leica is in hand. Combined with our presence at the Javits Center’s PhotoPlus Expo, we are celebrating photography in fun and inspirational ways.”

Highlighting the vast array of photographic situations that the Leica S captures in brilliant quality, three separate shooting situations occur throughout the day: models showcasing the effortless elegance of Fashion Designer Peter Som’s inspired designs, students from the Broadway Dance Center demonstrating quick movements and high energy and a special performance by a NYC based Indie Rock Band. Renowned New York Fashion Photographer Morgan Miller, the S-Studio’s featured photographer, will attend from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM each day, capturing images and offering insights into his own photographic process. In addition to the recently launched Leica S camera body, which features increased speed, imaging quality and sensor sensitivity, the full portfolio of Leica S lenses will be on hand, including the S-System CS Lenses and newly introduced Leica Vario-Elmar-S 30-90mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH.

ILFORD, regarded for quality and innovation in print, will be present with a Specialist available to make prints of the images shot at the S-Studio. In addition, several of Morgan Miller’s images will be displayed on Ilfotrans courtesy of Illuminartus.

Appointments can also be reserved with Leica S-System Specialists in advance to ensure personalized instruction on the Leica S tailored to individual needs and interests. Ongoing shooting sessions are slated to take place if an advanced registration is not made.

The world famous Leica Akademie is set to host sessions featuring the flagship Leica M-System and Leica X2 on Thursday, October 25th and Friday, October 26th. Designed to inspire while spurring creativity and encouraging photographic exploration, the free programs are led by noted Street Style Photographer and Blogger William Yan along with a knowledgeable Leica instructor. Participants receive hands on time with these legendary Leica cameras while shooting the urban landscapes along the scenic High Line, a public park built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. In addition, ONA camera bags are available for loan throughout the workshops. These premium accessories are designed to complement one’s life and personal style. Since spaces for these workshops are very limited, participants are required to register at rsvp@leicacamerausa.com.

The entire Leica Camera product line is also being showcased at the PhotoPlus Expo at the Jacob J. Javits Center (Booth 713) in New York from Thursday, October 25th through Saturday, October 27th. For those attending the PhotoPlus Expo, complimentary transportation from the Javits Center will be available with a shuttle running from the main entrance on 11th Avenue to and from Milk Studios on the half hour.
