- This video shows the winners and finalists’ portfolios for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2014.
- Thousands of entries were received from all over the world.
- The video and awards were presented on July 9 during Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie photography festival held in Arles, France.
- Martin Kollar won the Leica Oskar Barnack Award for his portfolio, “Field Trip” and Alejandro Cegarra won the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award for his portfolio, “The Other Side of the Tower of David.”
There will be three Leica Oskar Barnack photography contests in 2015.

Leica Oskar Barnack Award and Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award:
An international jury awards ……photographers whose unerring powers of observation capture and express the relationship between man and the environment in the most graphic form in a sequence of a minimum of 10 up to a maximum of 12 images. Entry submissions must be a self-contained series of images in which the photographer perceives and documents the interaction between man and the environment with acute vision and contemporary visual style – creative, groundbreaking and unintrusive. Only one entry per photographer is accepted.
Leica Oskar Barnack Award
The Leica Oskar Barnack Award contest is open to professional photographers (main category).
- To take part, participants must send in a series of photographs taken in 2014 or long-term projects containing at least one photo from 2014.
- Only one entry per photographer is accepted.
The winner of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award receives:
- a cash prize of 25,000 Euros (30695.50 US Dollar at the current exchange rate) and
- in addition a Leica M camera and a lens worth 10,000 Euros (12278.00 US Dollar at the current exchange rate).
Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award
The Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award is open to all (prospective) professional photographers who are aged 25 years and under at the time of entering.
The winner of the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award receives:
- a Leica rangefinder camera and a lens worth 10,000 Euros (12278.00 US Dollar at the current exchange rate) and
- a cash prize of 5,000 Euros (6139.10 US Dollar at the current exchange rate).
Leica Oskar Barnack Award and Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award
All entries for the above two contests must be made via the online Application Form between 15 January and March 1, 2015.
- The application form will be available 15 January 2015.

The best entries will be presented online from 1 April 2015. The awards will be presented in the course of the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie photographic festival held in Arles, in the south of France, from 6 to 12 July 2015. A special issue of LFI magazine presenting the winners and finalists and numerous illustrations of their works will be published to accompany the awards.
Leica Oskar Barnack Public Award (third category)
The winner of this category will receive a cash prize of 2,500 Euros (3069.50 US Dollar at the current exchange rate).
The winner will be determined from a shortlist of candidates selected by the jury in an online vote organized in collaboration with www.i-shot-it.com, a platform for photographic competitions.
- The Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2015 will also see the presentation of an audience award for a winner determined by voting online.
- Voting begins in April 2015.
- A prize draw for non-cash prizes of Leica compact cameras will also be held for all those who participated in the vote.
You “give Leica Camera AG the right to publish … series of pictures entered into this competition online in the online gallery on the homepage of Leica Camera AG.“
If you reach the final round of the 10 best entries, you “give Leica Camera AG the right to:
- use these photos in connection with the “Leica Oskar Barnack Award” competition for PR purposes
- project … pictures at the award presentation and publish the projection on the internet
- exhibit … award winning pictures free of charge with reference to the competition, e.g. in all Leica Galleries
- publish with reference to the competition … award winning pictures, or others, after mutual agreement between … and Leica Camera AG, in a book/magazine.“
