The Nano Hummingbird pictured in the video is a robot, life-size, runs for 11 minutes on batteries and can be remote-controlled. AeroVironment built it for Darpa, building its wings with a skeleton of hollow carbon-fiber rods is wrapped in fiber mesh. The wings beat 20 times a second (a real hummingbird’s wings beat at 80 times a second). It is equipped with a camera that can record and transmit real-time video.
