Madavor Media, a publising business based in Boston, Massachusetts, has acquired the online photography review website Imaging Resource (IR). Dave Etchells, the owner and publisher of IR, announced the news in an email today, naming the new site IR 2.0. Madavor Media also owns the rights to Outdoor Photographer and Digital Photo magazines, as well as the Digital Photo and HDVideoPro websites.
Under Madavor ownership, the IR staff will consist of a pared-down team of just two editors/reviewers/testers: Dave Pardue and William Brawley. After 22 years at IR, Dave Etchells will leave to pursue other passions, especially intellectual property consulting and expert witness work. However, he will have the honorary position of “Editor Emeritus,” so he can continue to act as a sort of senior technical sensei for IR. He hopes to submit occasional technical articles and continue more weather-resistance testing. He also hopes to continue meeting with and interviewing executives, product planners and engineers in Japan, and perhaps working on some custom content projects for different manufacturers as well.
