Mobile01 Interviews Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki

Sigma is a privately-owned company which is best known for its lenses and accessories for DSLRs. It has expanded its product lines to include the niche SD series DSLRs and DP series P&S cameras with their unique Foveon image sensor. The family business was founded in 1961 by Michihiro Yamaki, who passed the baton to his son Kazuto in 2012.

This video interview covers information of a personal nature as well as company direction since Kazuto Yamaki took over as CEO, product designs and, of course, market decisions as to which cameras Sigma will continue to make lenses for.

Though Sigma currently markets three ART series lenses for M43 and E-mount mirrorless cameras, it concentrates the majority of its effort on making lenses for Canon and Nikon DSLRs. It’s an interesting interview, very open and honest.
