With the Nikon D600, a full-frame DSLR is now affordable. It combines the size and user-friendliness of the DX-format D7000 with the high image quality and performance of the FX-format D800. It may well signal a new era where full-frame sensors will be expected in all enthusiast cameras.
The D600 is weather-sealed with magnesium-alloy top and rear construction. Handling is superb and DSLR users will feel at ease with the level of manual controls provided. It features 24.3MP, Continuous Shooting 5.5fps, ISO 100-6400, 39 point AF system, Full HD 1080p video at 30/25/24p with monaural sound (stereo with optional stereo microphone), built-in HDR, PASM modes, and the ability to customize it to pretty much the way you like to shoot.
Image quality is excellent at the low ISOs and noise is controlled up to ISO 800. RAW and a whole range of semi-auto and full manual shooting modes are available for the advanced photographer.
Live View is tremendously improved on the beautiful 3.2-in. (921k-dot) LCD. I used Live View as often as the optical viewfinder (with 100% frame coverage). The Nikon D600 is the camera to buy if you are considering moving up from an APS-C to a full-frame DSLR. Highly recommmended.
