CONTACT Photography Festival is the annual month-long festival of photography exhibitions and events held throughout the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada, May 1 – 31.

  • This year marks its 20th anniversary.

Celebrating Photography for 20 Years

The Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival marks its 20th anniversary in May 2016. To celebrate this milestone, an expanded program focuses on 20 Primary Exhibitions at major museums and galleries plus 20 Public Installations at sites across the city. From enduring practices to new forms of expression, the Festival showcases a diverse range of photo-based works by Canadian and international artists.

CONTACT is the largest photography event in the world, and a premiere cultural experience in Canada, with over 1500 artists in 200 exhibitions and happenings throughout the month in the Greater Toronto Area. Founded in 1997, CONTACT is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to celebrating and fostering the art and profession of photography.

This May, the 2016 CONTACT Photography Festival, one of Canada’s premier cultural events, will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The event will see more than 1,500 artists and photographers from around the world exhibiting their photographic works at 175 venues across the Greater Toronto Area.

On the first four Tuesdays in May, CONTACT and Nikon Canada are pleased to present the Nikon Lecture Series, featuring world-class authorities on photographic arts. To kick off our series, Nikon Canada Ambassador Nick Didlick Visual Media Producer will talk about how to stay inspired in our rapidly changing visual world.

Join Nick at St. Paul’s Bloor Street (227 Bloor St. East) in Toronto on Tuesday, May 3 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. for his session, “Inspiration in the Visual World.” Attendees are invited to bring their Nikon D-SLR (a maximum of two cameras) for a complimentary sensor cleaning. Please note you must be registered for the lecture to attend the camera cleaning clinic.
