Nikon has posted Teaser 4 of 4 of its forthcoming flagship full-frame mirrorless camera, the Z 9. In this teaser, it reveals that the Z 9 will be able to do very fast Continuous Shooting with a huge buffer, a fast refresh rate EVF with zero blackout between frames. We also get a glimpse of a new Nikkor Z 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 S lens.
The video interestingly seems to be sending the subtle message that many are in the race but only one wins it, and it’s the one with the yellow, white and black cap — the colors of Nikon’s logo.
It’s, however, a very close race, and the other racers are not far behind at all, as they all plunge for the prize and crowd chaotically around the winner. It could be a very prophetic ad because you can be certain that neither Canon nor Sony will willingly cede the prize to Nikon. Let the [mirrorless] games begin!
The Nikon Z 9 will be officially revealed tomorrow Oct 28 at 8:00 am EST.
Nikon is going back to its roots — to what made it’s film SLR the top choice of professional photographers back then: the best camera for sports photography. Unable to shake Nikon off this pedestal, Canon wisely and sneakily positioned its flagship film SLR camera as the best camera for wildlife, nature and landscape photography — and relentlessly gained ground until il dethroned Nikon. As Nikon will seemingly regain the sports photography camera crown, it will be interesting to see what Canon’s and Sony’s strategies will be.
