QUICKFACT SHEET

The Nikon Z8 is Nikon’s “other” flagship full-frame mirrorless camera. Basically, it is the Z9 minus the integrated vertical battery grip (though an external one is available). Similar to the Z9, the Nikon Z8 combines excellent image quality, one of the world’s best Tracking AF, 120fps (11MP) / 30fps JPEG / 20fps RAW Continuous Shooting, and 8K/30P RAW and 4K/120P video shooting.

Like the Z9, the Z8 boasts a blackout-free EVF, an all-electronic shutter with minimal rolling shutter, probably the world’s best tracking AF, and an insanely fast 120 frames per second continuous shooting at 11MP JPEG. Add in Pre-Release Capture and you have no excuse for not nailing the shot.

Without the integrated vertical battery grip, the Z8 is about 30% smaller than the Z9 and about 15% smaller than the D850 DSLR (Nikon is positioning the Z8 as the mirrorless successor of the D850 DSLR):

Main features:
– Excellent 45.7MP Full-Frame Stacked Sensor
– Super fast and precise AF with People, Animal and Vehicle tracking
– AF is sensitive down to -7EV (Starlight Mode: -9 EV)
– 120fps (11 MP) / 30fps JPEG / 20fps RAW Continuous Shooting and 1/32000 sec. all-electronic shutter
– 3.2-in. 2.1M-dot 4-axis Tilt Touchscreen LCD
– High-resolution 3.69M-dot OLED EVF with no blackout
– Uncropped 8K/30P Video for 125 min.
– 4K/120P for slow motion
– Interval Timer, Wireless Remote Shooting
– Dust, dirt and moisture sealing

Just as the D850 DSLR was received with wild enthusiasm, Nikon is hoping the Nikon Z8 will meet with the same welcome from pros and enthusiast photographers. And why shouldn’t it be, seeing that it has the power of the Nikon Z9, but in a lighter and smaller form factor. Like the Z9, it does not compromise on any of the important features pro photographers demand, delivering excellent image quality for both stills and videos, and the performance, speed and reliability we have come to expect from a Nikon flagship camera. The Z8 should be excellent for pro sports, wedding, landscape and wildlife photography.
