Olympus just announced the planned release of the Version 4.0 firmware upgrade for the OM-D E-M1, which features Focus Stacking and Focus Bracketing, among other improvements. It is scheduled to become available for download in late November, along with the Version 2.0 firmware upgrade for the OM-D E-M5 Mark II which features enhanced OM-D Movie performance, and Ver. 1.1 of the Olympus Capture tethering software.
Olympus explains the Focus Bracketing feature that is included in the upcoming Ver. 4.0 firmware upgrade for Olympus OM-D E-M1 as follows:

This photo of a jewel beetle was taken with an OM-D E-M1, using the Focus Bracketing feature included in the upcoming Ver. 4.0 firmware upgrade, with the images edited in post production using software available on the market.
Normally, it would be impossible to get the insect in focus from front to back shooting at such a close distance, even at an aperture of f/22, thus requiring multiple shots at different focus distances edited together. The process of manually changing the focus little by little as you take multiple shots is extremely tedious and time consuming, but now you can leave that up to the Focus Bracketing feature and it will be done in an instant. It is a great feature for those of you who enjoy taking photos of flowers, insects, or other small subjects up close.
The E-M1 Ver. 4.0 firmware upgrade is scheduled to become available in late November.
