The DMC-GM5 is a premium compact Digital Single Lens Mirrorless camera. Key features include:

MISSISSAUGA, ON (September 15, 2014) – Panasonic Canada Inc. is proud to introduce the new LUMIX DMC-GM5 from its premium compact Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) GM series. The camera’s high performance and range of features result in ultimate picture quality, and its outstandingly compact profile is perfect for the photographer on-the-go.
The DMC-GM5’s stylish magnesium alloy body design integrates a 1,166K-dot equivalent LVF (Live View Finder) with approx.0.92x / 0.46x (35mm camera equiv.) magnification and a 100 per-cent field of view. The LVF also boasts approximately 100 per-cent colour reproduction. The touch-control system integrated into the three-inch (approx. 921K-dot) high resolution monitor in 16:9 aspect lets users set focus and even release the shutter by simply touching the subject on the screen.
The DMC-GM5 realizes high-quality image recording with real-life details through excellent resolution, image rendering and colour reproduction. Its 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor and Venus Engine ensure that images are rendered with sharp resolution even when shot in low-lit situations and at max. 25600 high ISO.
The DMC-GM5’s Contrast AF System excels in both speed and accuracy by exchanging a digital signal between the camera and the lens at max. 240 fps. A variety of extensive AF functions including new Face / Eye Detection AF, Low Light AF, Pinpoint AF and One-shot AF enhances usability to comply with wide-ranging shooting situations.
The DMC-GM5 also features full HD 1920 x 1080, 60p (60 Hz) high quality video recording in AVCHD progressive and MP4 with stereo sound. The practical full-time AF and tracking AF is available in video recording, too. The cinema-like 24p video (max. 24 Mbps) or P/A/S/M mode provide richly expressive afterimage with overwhelming image quality.
The DMC-GM5 also features a new video recording option called “Snap Movie Mode” where users can record video in designated short periods of time (2/4/6/8 sec) as they shoot “moving photos”. Using Panasonic Image App on a Smartphone or tablet, users can combine the short clips, add a variety of interval fade effects and music, and share them online. The DMC-GM5 also incorporates popular Creative Control modes with a total of 22 fascinating filter effects in addition to Time Lapse Shot, Stop Motion Animation, and Clear Retouch. For more extensive photography, Time (long exposure) function is newly added and lets photographers set the exposure time to a max. of 60 seconds.
Furthermore, the DMC-GM5 allows photographers to use max. 1/16000 fast shutter speed for more impressive expression with a high speed lens and is also compatible with Focus Peaking, Silent Mode, Highlight/Shadow Control and Level Gauge.
With Wi-Fi® connectivity, users can connect the camera to their smartphone or tablet to expand shooting flexibility. It is also possible to use a smartphone or tablet as a multi-capable remote shutter with a monitor. With the Instant Transfer function, photos are automatically sent to a smartphone or tablet right after shooting. Both photos and video can be archived to the registered digital equipment, such as a PC, automatically via the wireless access point (router) at home.
An external flash unit (GN7/ISO100･m, GN10/ ISO200･m) is bundled to mount on the newly added hot shoe (in black or silver colour). The DMC-GM5 also allows for the attachment of Hand Grip DMW-HGR1 (black / silver, sold separately) to make holding the camera easier.
Packing high photographic performance in a sleek, ultra-compact body, the DMC-GM5 is offered in black and features premium synthetic leather styling.
