PANASONIC CANADA INTRODUCES THE HC-X1000

The world’s first* 4K Ultra HD camcorder capable of recording 4K 60p/50p video images onto an SD card

*As of September 3rd, 2014

MISSISSAUGA, ON (September 3, 2014) – Panasonic Canada Inc. is pleased to announce the HC-X1000, the world’s first* camcorder capable of recording 4K 60p/50p video images onto an SD card.  The HC-X1000 records in 4K (3840 x 2160) and Cinema 4K (4096 x 2160) formats, both offering four times the resolution of Full-HD, to produce smoothly flowing 60p/50p images.

The new camcorder features a Leica Dicomar Lens, a new BSI Sensor, and the Crystal Engine Pro 4K.  In addition, a 4-Drive Lens System enables a compact body in spite of the 20x optical zoom lens.  This allows the HC-X1000 to deliver stunningly beautiful 4K images with real-life ambience and adds to the nimble mobility of its compact dimensions.

Versatile file formats — including AVCHD, MOV and MP4 — and high bit rates prepare the HC-X1000 for use in a wide range of applications.  Triple Manual Rings, 2-Channel XLR Audio Input Terminals, an ND Filter, and Dual SD Card Slots are among the many functions that meet or exceed professional demands.

Panasonic’s unrelenting pursuit of high image quality, which has kept it firmly in the lead of the AV industry, is now forging into an exciting new market to further expand the possibilities of 4K images.

High Performance 4K 60p/50p Video Recording

  • 4K Video Recording
With four times the resolution of Full-HD, the HC-X1000 records in 4K (3,840 x 2,160) and 4K Cinema (4,096 x 2,160) formats.  This delivers true-to-life images for a wide variety of shooting situations, in extremely high detail.
  • 4K 60p/50p Video Recording
Incredible 4K image quality is achieved at 60p/50p. Using 60p/50p the video frame rate has double the information compared to 30p/25p, meaning smoother motion.

  • Leica Dicomar Lens
This high-performance lens has passed the stringent inspection standards of Leica Camera AG for aspects such as resolution and contrast.  In addition to rendering sharp, crisp images, it produces the distinctive nuances and subtle shading that Leica lenses are renowned for.
  • 1/2.3” BSI Sensor
Increasing the readout speed has made it possible to handle large-volume 4K data at an impressive 60 fps/50 fps.  This suppresses the rolling shutter distortion that often occurs when shooting moving subjects.
  • Crystal Engine Pro 4K
This high-speed LSI processes the massive volume of 4K data quickly and accurately.  A new noise reduction system achieves clear images with minimal noise even in darkness.
