Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1
Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1

The [Panasonic] GF1 is a near perfect travel camera. For 16 days I lived with it strapped to me as I climbed through the valleys of central Nepal up to Annapurna Base Camp at 4,200 meters.

Craigmod has published his field test of the Panasonic GF1 [Specs], a 12.1MP Micro Four-Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera available with either the LUMIX G 20mm/F1.7 ASPH “pancake” kit lens or the LUMIX G VARIO 14-45mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. kit lens. The GF1 features 1280 x 720 High Definition video in AVCHD Lite, My Color mode with seven preset effects, Live View with fast contrast AF, Intelligent Auto mode, Scene modes, Face Detection, Face Recognition, AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO, Intelligent Exposure, Intelligent Scene Selector, built-in flash, 3.0-in. Intelligent LCD (460,000 dots), Dust Reduction system, and an optional Live View Finder attachable via the hot shoe. The GF1 also accepts Four Thirds System interchangeable lenses via an optional mount adaptor DMW-MA1 and Leica M / R lenses using Panasonic’s DMW-MA2M / DMW-MA3R.
