With the countdown now to one year until the Rio 2016 Olympic Games & Paralympic Games, Panasonic Brazil (PANABRAS) has announced that Panasonic Corporation and PANABRAS have signed an agreement to be the official technology partner for Rio de Janeiro’s Sugarloaf Mountain and will be sponsoring Brazilian athletes.

  • As part of the agreement, Panasonic is providing projectors, televisions, LED screens, digital signage systems and other equipment to be permanently installed at the world-famous attraction.

Sugarloaf Mountain is a peak situated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Rio 2016 Olympic Games,“Biggest Sporting Event on the Planet,” 5 – 21 August, 2016

  • 10,500 athletes from 206 countries will compete in the first Olympic Games in South America.
  • During 17 days, there will be 306 medal events: 136 women’s + 9 mixed + 161 men’s.
  • 42 sports will be contested, including two new additions: Golf returns to the Games after 112 years and Rugby returns to the Games after 92 years.
  • 32 competition venues will be spread across four regions of Rio de Janeiro.

Rio 2016 Paralympic Games 7 – 18 September 2016

  • 4,350 athletes from 178 countries will compete in the first Paralympic Games in South America.
  • During 11 days, there will be 528 medal events: 226 women’s + 38 mixed + 264 men’s.
  • 23 sports will be contested, including Canoe (Lagoa Stadium) and Triathlon (Fort Copacabana).
  • 20 competition venues will be spread across four regions of Rio de Janeiro.

Panasonic Announces Sponsorship of Brazilian Athletes and Sugarloaf Mountain

With the countdown to one year until the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Panasonic has signed an agreement to be the technology partner for Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio and will be sponsoring Brazilian athletes.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – August 4, 2015 – With the countdown now to one year until the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Panasonic Brazil (PANABRAS) has announced that Panasonic Corporation and PANABRAS have signed an agreement to be the official technology partner for Rio de Janeiro’s Sugarloaf Mountain. As part of the agreement, Panasonic is providing projectors, televisions, LED screens, digital signage systems and other equipment to be permanently installed at the world-famous attraction. “We’re going to update the audio and visual solutions of this Rio de Janeiro landmark,” says Michikazu Matsushita, president of PANABRAS, which will be holding various events at the location during the Olympic Games.

Additionally, Panasonic will be sponsoring a number of Brazilian athletes. Receiving the brand’s support will be swimmer Felipe França; beach volleyball duo Juliana Silva and Maria Elisa Antonelli ; and Daniel Dias, two-time winner of the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability. Serving as PANABRAS’s ambassador for Rio 2016 Olympic activities will be volleyball icon Maurício Lima, who helped lead the Brazilian men’s volleyball team to Olympic gold in 1992 and 2004.

In addition to the sponsorship deal, Panasonic has opened a special website that features these athletes along with Neymar da Silva Santos Junior (Neymar Jr.), who serves as a global ambassador for Panasonic. Along with videos of Neymar Jr. talking about the Olympic Games, the site will feature a series of campaigns related to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
