Somehow this got me to thinking about the hybrid viewfinder on the Fujifilm mirrorless cameras [probably because I’m currently finishing up the review of the X-Pro1]. I wonder if and when a car will give us the choice between the current “optical” and an electronic view of the road ahead of us. The electronic display has the advantage of “gaining” up in low light to improve driving safety, as well as being augmented in various other means in other potentially dangerous driving conditions such as fog, rain, white outs, etc. Of course, refreshing such a big image in real-time would require a pretty sophisticated electronic display.
To make this even more interesting, pair this with a touchscreen and GPS and we are suddenly in futuristic territory, navigating the road with a touch and flick of the wrist on the electronic display. Dream on!
