February 2, 2010

Compact cameras with HD movie and video recording, 3x optical zoom and intelligent scene recognition

Mississauga, ON – Fujifilm is pleased to announce the introduction of the FinePix AV100 and AV180 featuring High Definition image and video capture for the first time on an entry-level camera. These new compacts are easy-to-use, allow users to take great photos with minimal effort, and are ideal for people who are investing in their first digital camera.

Despite their entry-level price, there is no compromise in image quality or design robustness. All models feature a Fujinon lens, to ensure that top optical image quality is realized from the powerful sensor and advanced image processing engine.

Superb High Definition images
Fujfilm has introduced HD across its entire lineup and all new A series cameras will capture stunning, detailed, HD video at 720p and HD Photo at 16:9. Play them back on any HD ready television* (or home PC) and prepare to be amazed as your photos come to life in their full glory. *To connect to an HD-ready TV, you will need a HD Card Reader and HDMI cable (optional extras).

The AV100 offers 12 megapixel resolution and the A180 will offer industry leading 14 megapixel resolution, both will feature a 3x Fujinon optical zoom lens and 2.7 and 3.0-inch (AV100 and AV180) LCD screen sizes. Consumers will be able to choose a camera that perfectly suits their needs and budget, while still ensuring they capture beautifully balanced photos with the aid of advanced technologies such as Intelligent Scene Recognition, Panorama Mode and Face Detection with Auto Red Eye Removal.

Intuitive Technology
Intelligent Scene Recognition Auto (SR AUTO) ensures that you get a good picture every time. It intelligently detects the scene type and shooting conditions, and optimizes the camera’s focus, exposure and white balance to achieve perfect results. So whether you’re photographing flowers or shooting a holiday landscape, you will get flawless photos at the press of a button.

If you want to discover your camera’s full capabilities try out the different Scene Modes available. They are designed to suit particular shooting conditions. For example, the Museum mode where the flash is forced off and the camera noise is silenced so the camera operates very discreetly. This may be an entry level product but the technology it provides is really quite advanced.

Panorama Shooting
For added creative versatility and unheard of at this price point, Panorama Shooting mode allows you to stitch three photos together to create a stunning panoramic image, perfect for wide landscapes, tall buildings or large groups of people.

Focus on Faces
Ideal for photographing portraits or group shots of people, the A-Series cameras feature Fujifilm’s Face Detection technology with Auto Red Eye Removal to ensure the settings are optimized for the people in the picture and annoying “red eyes” are removed. Candid shots in low-light are made simple with the Natural Light mode, which automatically increases the ISO to enable the flash to be forced off for discreet, non-intrusive shots.

Whichever camera you select, the high resolution sensors and top quality Fujinon optics are combined with high sensitivity settings (to ISO 3200 at 3MP) to deliver sharp, clear images in all conditions, perfect for enlarging on screen or in print without compromising image quality.

If you have ever struggled to find the photo you are looking for on your camera, then this new function is for you. Fujifilm has added a Picture Search feature which allows you to find all images taken in a particular scene mode (for example, Portraits, Landscapes, or Macro shots) thereby ensuring it is much faster to navigate through the photos on your camera.
