Mississauga, ON – Following last year’s successful launch of the first ultra-slim superzoom FinePix F70EXR, Fujifilm is pleased to announce the FinePix F80EXR with a higher resolution 12 megapixel Super CCD EXR sensor, 720p high definition video capture, a larger 3” high contrast LCD screen and more exciting new features. Built with the same award-winning Super CCD EXR sensor technology as its predecessor, the FinePix F80EXR delivers class-leading image quality in a wide variety of challenging shooting conditions.
Super CCD EXR sensor
Introduced last year with the FinePix F200EXR, this radical new approach to sensor technology has been met with rave reviews and numerous awards from international industry organizations such as EISA and TIPA. Modeled on the human eye, the EXR sensor was developed by Fujifilm to maximize quality where larger sensors simply cannot be used, making it perfect for a superzoom compact, delivering extraordinary results even in the most challenging conditions.
The FinePix F80EXR sports the latest 12 megapixel version of the EXR sensor, offering even higher resolution than its predecessor while still offering class-leading dynamic range up to 800% and low noise/high sensitivity options. It offers the same three EXR Priority modes as its predecessors. When the light is strong and even, the camera can be switched to HR (High Resolution) mode to ensure every small detail is recorded. When the light is strong but contrasted, the sensor can switch to DR (Wide Dynamic Range) mode to get the optimal balance between highlight and shadows. Lastly, in low light the sensor can switch to SN (High Sensitivity and Low Noise) mode, to ensure clean noise-free pictures even in the darkest conditions. For the ultimate in ‘point and shoot’, EXR Auto mode takes the guesswork out of setting the camera by doing everything for you. With six pre-set scene modes covering the most popular subjects; Landscape, Portrait, Macro, Night, Night Portrait, and Backlit Portrait, EXR Auto automatically detects the lighting and scene conditions to optimize focus, exposure and white balance.
10x Wide Angle Fujinon Optical Zoom lens
The Fujinon name ensures optical quality across the entire range that you’ll see from the first picture you take. Fujinon lenses are acclaimed by photographers, broadcasters (as the world’s leading manufacturer of television camera lenses) and industrial users across the globe. Fujinon lenses have been used in an orbital satellite to capture high-resolution photos of the surface of the moon. The F80EXR lens features Super Electronic Beam Coating (EBC), the original coating system of Fujinon that keeps ghosting and flare to a minimum to promise optimal picture quality.
Despite its pocket-friendly size, the FinePix F80EXR’s 10x zoom lens offers a hugely versatile 27-270mm range (35mm camera equivalent) from wide-angle to telephoto. From sweeping landscapes, interiors and large group shots to distant sports or wildlife action, the FinePix F80EXR opens up a world of photographic possibilities you can carry with you wherever you go.
The FinePix F80EXR also features Dual Image Stabilization which combines a mechanically stabilized CCD sensor with high ISO sensitivities for total anti-blur protection. The combination of these technologies reduces the blurring effect of both hand-shake and subject movement even further to provide sharp and clear results even at the longest zoom settings or in the most challenging lighting conditions.
HD Movie Capture
Fujifilm has introduced HD across its entire lineup and with 720p HD image and video capture the new F80EXR will produce stunning, detailed images that can be enjoyed in glorious High Definition on any HD ready television* or PC.

Revolutionary Low-light Noise Mode
The Pro Low-light Mode provides extremely low noise even when zooming in low light scenes by combining a burst of 4 high sensitivity images using SN mode *1 in quick succession. Using sophisticated Multi Frame Technology, all four images are merged to create one image.
Film Simulation Modes
Similar to other high-end FinePix models, the FinePix F80EXR offers 5 different film ‘modes’ to allow the photographer full creative expression to explore a variety of pre-set colour and contrast modes designed around Fujifilm’s most famous film emulsions. The modes are: Velvia/Vivid (for dramatic full saturation colour), PROVIA/Standard (for classic ‘neutral’ photography), ASTIA/Soft (for gentle, low contrast portraiture and soft, fine, smooth tonality), Sepia (for antique, warms tones) and Black & White (for dramatic monotones).

High Contrast 3.0” LCD
The high contrast 3” LCD is a considerable benefit in bright light. The Wide View Filter on the LCD means that the camera can be held or viewed at 160 degrees both vertically and horizontally to enable framing of awkward shots or for bright and clear renditions of shots in playback mode.
Face Recognition and Pet Detection
Having introduced ultra fast Face Detection to the digital camera market, Fujifilm continues to innovate with technical solutions designed to make getting the perfect picture easier than ever. The FinePix F80EXR features Fujifilm’s latest Face Detection technology (with automatic red-eye removal), which is able to track up to 10 faces simultaneously, at almost any angle to the camera.
New for the FinePix F80EXR is Face Recognition Technology, which takes Face Detection a step further by allowing you to register the faces, names and birthdays of up to 8 of your friends and family in the camera’s memory. When shooting groups of people, the F80EXR can be set to prioritize focus and exposure on faces (up to five) that it recognizes and will display their names on the screen as the photo is being composed. In playback mode the FinePix F80EXR’s sophisticated new Image Search feature allows users to search for specific people by name or category.
The F80EXR also features Pet Detection which detects the faces* of up to 10 dogs or cats and automatically focuses on them. It’s notoriously difficult to capture an expressive portrait of an active animal with a compact camera. Pet Detection allows the camera to shoot automatically as soon as it detects your pet’s face in the frame. The FinePix F80EXR also allows you to search for pictures of cats or dogs in playback mode (the new Image Search feature can also search images based on Scene mode and recognized faces).

Tracking Autofocus
The FinePix F80EXR’s new Tracking Auto Focus function means that users can track a moving subject while ensuring focus is maintained, even when using the full 10x optical zoom. This feature is ideal for kids who are always on the go, dogs running, or Parents wanting to capture the perfect sports action shot. Simply focus, press the shutter half way and the camera will lock on to the subject, ready for you to take the perfect shot.
Super Intelligent Flash
The FinePix F80EXR is fitted with a class-leading flash control system that efficiently manages the flash power to produce beautifully balanced flash illumination across the foreground and background, even in macro mode. Gone are the ugly washout shots where the subject is blasted with light and the background is dark and unexposed.
DSLR-like Effects with Pro-Focus Mode
One of the ways to distinguish DSLR photography from compact camera photography has been the use of a wide aperture to produce a narrow depth of field separating the main subject from a soft background. The same effect is now possible on the FinePix F80EXR, thanks to its innovative Pro Focus Mode. Through complex digital imaging technology, several exposures are combined to create a crisp shot of the subject against a defocused background and foreground. Ideal for portraiture, nature photography or any subject that needs ‘lifting’ from its background, the FinePix F80EXR Pro Focus Mode provides satisfying professional results at the touch of a button.
Auto Picture Rotation
It’s so annoying when you have to continually adjust your camera to view portrait and landscape shots. The new F80EXR fixes this problem by ensuring your photos are always rotated the correct way in playback. Enjoy your pictures on the large 2.7-inch LCD, whichever way you are holding the camera, the image will rotate on the screen for you.
