FUJIFILM FINEPIX S1600 AND S1800: HIGH PERFORMANCE SUPERZOOM DSLR-STYLE DIGITAL CAMERAS WITH HD

February 2, 2010

Powerful zoom range and HD capabilities extend Fujifilm’s reasonably priced S-Series

Mississauga, ON – Fujifilm is proud to announce the arrival of the NEW FinePix S1600 and S1800, a range of lightweight 12 megapixel superzoom DSLR-style cameras with powerful wide angle Fujinon long zoom lenses.

FinePix S Series superzoom cameras have been popular across the world for many years, and the new line-up for 2010 doesn’t disappoint. Built around NEW 15x (S1600) and 18x (S1800) Fujinon lenses and Fujifilm’s proprietary image processing technology, the new S-Series delivers remarkably high quality results all the way from 28mm wide angle through to telephoto. With unique easy-grip styling, and their small, lightweight design, these models can be easily carried around with you, yet have the latest technologies to give you professional looking photos everytime.

Impressive Wide angle Superzoom Fujinon Lens
Both cameras boast a 28mm wide-angle lens that extends all the way to 420mm (15x for the S1600) or 504mm (18x for the S1800). From sweeping landscapes, interiors and large group shots to distant sports or wildlife action, both of these cameras are ready for every photographic challenge thrown at them.

Advanced HD capabilities
Fujfilm has introduced HD across its entire lineup and with 720p HD image and video capture both of these S Series cameras will produce stunning, detailed images that can be enjoyed in glorious High Definition on any HD ready television* or PC.
*To connect to a HD ready TV with the S1600 and S1800, an optional HD Reader is available, fitted with an SD card slot

Tracking Auto Focus
Tracking Auto Focus allows you to track moving subjects and ensures that when you take the shot your subject is in the centre of the frame and in perfect focus. No more frustrating missed shots!

Panorama mode
Both S-Series also feature Panorama Mode which allows you to take a series of pictures and then stitch them together to create an impressive continuous shot of a landscape or a group of friends.

Intelligent Scene Recognition
Using Fujifilm’s Intelligent Scene Recognition (SR Auto) the S series cameras are able to intelligently select the scene type and shooting conditions present and will then adjust the camera settings accordingly, optimizing results and making it easy to take good pictures.

Perfect Portraits
To further enhance the existing Face Detection system, Fujifilm have added two fun and valuable features: Smile Detection recognizes the precise moment your subject smiles and releases the shutter only when this happens. Blink Detection warns you if any of your subjects have blinked so that you can re-take the photo if necessary. Combine this with Auto-red eye Removal and you have a very powerful system to ensure your portraits turn out spectacular.

Dual Image Stabilization
A mechanically stabilized CCD sensor and high ISO sensitivity (to ISO 6400 at 3MP) for anti-blur protection reduces the blurring effect of both hand-shake and subject movement to provide sharp and clear results even at the longest zoom settings or in the most challenging of lighting conditions.

High resolution LCD screen and Electronic Viewfinder
Frame your shots using the high quality electronic viewfinder or the large, bright 3.0-inch LCD screen that offers high resolution image playback and a fast frame rate of 60 fps.

Manual Photographic controls
Both S-Series models feature Programmed AE, Shutter Priority AE, and Manual mode with extensive metering and focus options for the more advanced user.

Advanced Features

Previously on the S2000HD, Instant Zoom is a versatile feature which enables the user to keep their subject in frame at a long distance by offering a wide viewing area around the frame and then cropping in to the subject once the photo is taken.

Zoom Bracketing: A useful function enables three shots to be taken at the single press of the button, at varying degrees of magnification (original, 1.4 x and 2.0 x). This enables instant editing on the camera to choose the ideal shot, rather than having to go back to a PC to facilitate a digital crop.

Pre-programmed scene modes: The new models feature pre-programmed scene modes that offer a one-touch setting for almost any situation, including: Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Museum, Party, Flower, Text, and Auction.

Auto Picture Rotation: A useful new function that ensures your photos are always the right way around in playback. Whether you have taken a landscape or portrait image, you can enjoy your pictures whichever way around you are holding the camera, as the image will rotate in the screen to suit.

Image retrieval
Fujifilm has created a new Picture Search tool which allows you to find photos quickly and easily. You can search by whichever Scene mode the photo was taken. For instance if you select ‘Portrait’, you can view all photos shot in Portrait mode, or ‘Macro’ to see all close up shots etc.
