FUJIFILM ANNOUNCES EXCELLIGHT DISPLAY FILM

New Inkjet Display Film Delivers Superior Photographic Image Quality for Day and Night Use

Valhalla, NY, February 17, 2009 – FUJIFILM U.S.A., Inc. today announced the launch of ExcellightTM, a high quality coated polyester film designed to produce inkjet printed backlit displays that exhibit the same outstanding color fidelity and depth whether illuminated from the back or the front. A new technology inkjet receiver layer incorporated in the media makes it suitable for use with both solvent-based and UV curable inks. This same technology allows the back light of an ExcellightTM display to be turned off during the day while still delivering impressive image quality.

“ExcellightTM establishes a new class of inkjet display film that offers unsurpassed quality as well as potential cost savings for both backlit graphics producers and display owners,” said John Placko, senior product manager – Photo Specialty Printing Solutions, Fujifilm U.S.A., Inc. “One of the most exciting benefits is the tremendous opportunity ExcellightTM creates for energy cost savings in the inkjet backlit display marketplace. With its unmatched reflective illumination characteristics, we could see an industry-wide shift towards turning off light boxes during the day without any loss of message impact.”

Features of ExcellightTM include:

  • High density image quality for both backlit and reflective displays
  • Flexibility to use with either solvent-based or UV curable inkjet printing systems
  • Excellent heat and humidity resistance
  • Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) film base is more environmentally friendly than Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) alternatives*

Fujifilm ExcellightTM  is designed to produce exceptional results when used with Fujifilm Sericol inks on a variety of printers, and is also well suited for use with other manufacturers of UV and solvent inks.

Availability
Fujifilm ExcellightTM will be sold in multiple widths up to 54 inches and availability is targeted for Spring 2009.

*Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is more friendly to the environment because it can be recycled and it does not produce toxic chlorine-based chemicals, such as dioxins, when burned.
