Profilograph

Pablo Garcia has taken the six facial profiles Albrecht Dürer presents early in his treatise on human proportion and has made a machine (“Profilograph”) out of them such that when the machine rotates, the six profiles become a continuous facial profile. What is interesting — and absent from Dürer’s analog treatise — is the possibility to slice through the extrusion and yield new faces derived from the six profiles.

Visit our Featured Site: Pablo Garcia for photos and an explanation of how the Profilograph was built.
