Real-Time Lens Blur Effects and Focus Control

Here’s a a novel rendering system for defocus-blur and lens effects. It simulates artistic lenses to control depth-of-field effects and integrates advanced simulations of various lens aberration effects, such as spherical aberration, chromatic aberration and tilt-shift photography — effects that are crucial for realism.

It can also set focus on two or more points at different distances — something that cannot be done in real terms — for example, having the foreground subject in sharp focus, the background out of focus, except for one object in the background that is also in focus.
