Leica Camera is partner of the world’s biggest international photography competition for action and adventure sports photography “Red Bull Illume”. At the last competition over 2000 international photographers submitted a staggering number of action and adventure sports images and were judged by a panel of renowned photo editors and experts.
The 2010 edition of Red Bull Illume is predicted to be even bigger. Again the contest is focusing on finding the world’s most outstanding and premium adventure sports images, illuminating the passion, thrilling lifestyle and culture behind these shots and honoring the people who brave the world’s harshest terrains to get them.
The submission phase will be open from October 1, 2009 until February 28, 2010. Amateur and professional photographers are invited to enter their best photos via the official website http://www.redbullillume.com.
The ten categories for the 2010 Image Quest are culture, playground, energy, spirit, close up, wings, sequence, new creativity, experimental and illumination.
The winners, chosen by a selected jury of experts, will be announced in May 2010. The overall winner will receive a Leica S2 camera and equipment to the value of €30,000.
