EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This Panasonic ZS10 / TZ20 Review is based on a production model. All sample images are unretouched, except where specified.

Compact ultra wide-angle ultra zoom digital camera. The Panasonic ZS10 / TZ20 is targeted to the point-and-shoot crowd though the availability of manual exposure options might interest some beginner photographers who want to learn and grow in their photography skills. I really like features such as the 24mm ultra wide-angle, 384mm telephoto, and good to very good image quality at the low ISOs. As we have come to appreciate with Panasonic digital cameras, the ZS10 / TZ20 is able to focus quickly and precisely even in low light conditions.

If you are looking for a compact travel camera, the Panasonic ZS10 / TZ20 might well fit the bill since it is compact enough to be pocketable, is super easy to use in Intelligent AUTO mode, and gives very good results at low ISOs.

What about high ISO use? This is one department where you get what you pay for. I don’t believe you’d be disappointed if you restrict your print sizes to regular small sizes and for Web display, but if you intend to enlarge much, stay at ISO 100.

Should you get a Panasonic ZS10 / TZ20? Let me put it this way: the image quality is not as good as what you’d get from a DSLR or mirrorless DSLR, but as far as power, functionality, ease-of-use and compactness are concerned, it’s hard to beat. Recommended.
