Ricoh THETA VR Image Contest: Upload 360° Still Images or Videos (Approximately 10 Secs in Length Per Video) Suitable for VR That You Took with the RICOH THETA-Series Cameras before October 26, 2016 at Japan Time

RICOH THETA is the world’s first ultra-small camera that takes spherical images with two lenses. Capture the entire world around your RICOH THETA with a simple push of the shutter, and share easily on social networking services.

Ricoh invites you to enter the THETA VR Image Contest by uploading a 360° still image or video captured using a RICOH THETA camera.

  • “RICOH THETA” is the camera that can easily create realistic VR (Virtual Reality) images.
  • The 360° image captured using THETA allows you to experience VR as long as you have a smartphone and VR viewer. The winners will be contacted directly by November 4, 2016.  Still images and videos from the contest winners will be available from a special site to allow people to experience VR using their smartphone. (To be shown at a later date)

We are now accepting videos from applicants under the theme of VR as one of the ways to enjoy using RICOH THETA.
We look forward to viewing your amazing images which are perfect for experiencing VR!…

We are looking forward to cool works that are perfect for the VR experience and can only be experienced in 360°.

Contest categories
■ “What are you looking      at?” category You peek through a VR viewer and the first thing you see is a face. Your gaze shifts past the face and you see…something amazing!
The work (still images or video) contains an element of surprise and it expresses something that can only be shown in 360°.
“Moved moment, once      again!” category A single moment of a beautiful scene or setting. You want to return once more to that time and that place. The work (still images or video) is in 360° and is something you want everyone to experience in virtual reality
Open category Any type of work is OK.
Work (still images or video) in 360° that you want people to experience in virtual reality.

Entry

  • Upload a 360° still image or video suitable for VR that you took with the RICOH THETA series, to theta360.com* and apply with the specified submission form at https://theta360.com/en/lp/vrcontest/ .
  • For more details on how to apply and how to upload, please see the special page at https://theta360.com/en/lp/vrcontest/ .
    * Video should be uploaded via a PC. The video must be trimmed to approximately 10 seconds in length.
  • There are no restrictions on the number of submissions. However, only one still image or video can be sent per one submission from the submission form.
    If you wish to submit multiple images/videos, please create a new submission form.

…Copyright of the submitted video or still images belongs to the photographer (person who captured and submitted the work). However, Ricoh Company, Ltd., Ricoh Imaging Company, Ltd. and overseas affiliated companies and distributors reserves the right to use the video or still images free-of-charge during promotion exhibits, PR activities, internet publication and sales promotion activities (this includes any processing or modification work done to the video or still images).
We may show the photographer’s nick name, title and comments when exhibiting the video or still images.

Any personal information obtained as part of this contest will be used to notify you of the contest results or for other purposes.
We will never disclose or provide personal information to a third party without your consent…

In addition, we may use video and still images submitted to the contest that did not win a prize in the production of material at Ricoh Company, Ltd., Ricoh Imaging Company, Ltd. and overseas affiliated companies and distributors.
