Snowmageddon Peters Out In Toronto

Environment Canada has a tendency of overstating the danger of bad weather conditions. If it says a storm is coming at 4 p.m., it won’t arrive until midnight. If it says 30 cms of snow, it’ll be half that.

In fact, instead of the feared 20 to 30 cms, Toronto received a mere 13 to 17 cms of snow this time. Still, with slippery driving conditions on major roads and many neighborhood streets still uncleared by afternoon, the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) received 600 calls from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) between midnight and 2 p.m.

Environment Canada should stop crying wolf so often, so predictably. One day, it’ll get it right, but who’ll be listening then?
