The $35 (No, Make It $10) Touchscreen Tablet

If you ever wondered why electronic devices cost so much (and why people are so willing to fork out mucho paisa for one), then you’ll be delighted to hear about the US $35 touchscreen tablet being developed in India.

It is based on the open-sourced Linux operating system and can be used for word processing, web browsing and video-conferencing. It even has a solar power option.

Why so cheap? Falling hardware costs and “intelligent design.” The tablet doesn’t have a hard disk, but uses a memory card.

No name has yet been proposed for the tablet.

Read FastCompany’s rebuttal, which does not seem to have taken into account that the prices they mention in their article are already inflated to begin with.
